Diamonds 04:06
I could never cure your condition the sun don't set on diamonds like you think you'll cut your fingers on the broken glass you mistake its broken glass you must take You've always wanted that red blouse now you'll just ask for more once the bow breaks and walls fall away you're left with just a roof and a floor The sun don't set on diamonds like you the sun don't set on diamonds like you the sun don't set on diamonds like you think. Some of the things you miss while you sleep are the same damn things you miss when you blink. Used to write dreams in your book When you were young, glowing, naive grew up too fast, that book didn't last when you found that the world was not what it seemed I could never cure your religion I could never fear the things you do you find yourself lost much more than find yourself and i will never get lost with you The sun don't set on diamonds like you the sun don't set on diamonds like you the sun don't set on diamonds like you think. Some of the things you miss while you sleep are the same damn things you miss when you blink.

Reasons 03:20
For once lets put the past in the past and tear down the sun instead of punching out lights we'll be good tonight be home tonight you're right ill trip up on the way back and fall away back you can count on it breaking to broken bones and sleep through the phone Happy when you're sleeping and numb when you're awake you've got much more to live for than you've got pills to take so hard to smile when you're sick hard to stay awake And I told you you won't find answers in the future when you behind all the snapped off heels from stomping on the floor are notches in the woodwork, mark your height at the door you're getting so big but i can't tell ever since you were saved I've been going to hell is this real do you need a reason do you need reasons Go on without me you can go on without me there's a million different people that could do what I do they will love you too, oh they will love you too you gotta jump to land on your feet when you're through

We all clenched to our cell phones, Like they were the way home. Like they could somehow have known. But it's got to take some Initiative to end this. She knew that she could end this. But she didn't... But she didn't burn her Hamsun. Pan is still up in his tree. As for Hunger, it's on her night stand. Waiting for her to come to bed, While we were building piles Of burning words that reached the sky. They were pages of the books Of men wish would die. And we all clenched to our mothers, Because they were the way home. And this they had always known. And it took lots of Initiative to end this. She knew that she could end this. And she did.

If you've lost your years to smoke and mirrors put me down you're here now if you shake me off the knife this time i'll leave this town Oh oh time is such a funny thing when you are young when you're dumb oh mistakes are more than lessons learned when you grow up And i could hide you could look but you'd know you'd never find me and I could lie i'd bite my tongue all the time And i could tell the perfect story you'd believe every word when i promise you you'd want me to and you'd believe every word Ill show you how the smoke and mirrors will hide you, hold you under, there's a way we spoke in early years of how the waves could break and sunder we'd walk through the center dry smiling when the clouds would tremble trying hard to break above things our memories resemble Lost in smoke so thick and black lights shine past your shadow's back you step its toes in spite of track to you its all the same to you its all the same
5.
Nocturnal 03:48
You can sleep When you're dead It's all in my head It's all in my head And I'll walk on broken legs until I'm lost it's all in my head it's all in my head If Gravity Gets the best of me weighs me down please lie next to me on cold cold ground they say she's nocturnal she just wants to make it last

about

No single track on the Diamonds EP was written for a single person. While I speak to "you" in each song, that "you" is a combination of myself, my family and my friends. The EP is about outgrowing the comfort that surrounds childhood and adolescence and all of the hardships you face in "the real world". The album is about balancing sickness with responsibility. It is about religion, about secrets, and it is about lies.
